Click below to read a conversation with Patty and Abby about the experiences that shaped their Jewish journeys, the relationships that inspired their leadership, and their vision for the future of Jewish St. Louis.
They share why the Federation’s work, from strengthening community security and supporting those in need to investing in Jewish education, leadership, and connection, matters now more than ever, and why the Annual Campaign remains one of the most powerful ways to make a lasting impact.
Last month, more than 400 Jewish leaders from across the U.S. traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Congressional offices and advocate for support of new, comprehensive, bipartisan legislation: the Jewish American Security Act.
The bill, introduced by Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and James Lankford (R-OK), would increase Nonprofit Security Grant Program funding to $1 billion annually with improvements to the application and reimbursement process, create an antisemitism coordinator within the Department of Education, provide Title VI trainings to public K-12 schools and colleges, and require new disclosures about how online platforms moderate and respond to antisemitic content, among other important measures to protect Jewish facilities, communities, and students.
Thank you to our St. Louis delegation for giving their time and energy on behalf of our entire community: Michael Lourie, Federation Vice President of Public Affairs; Dan Friedman, Federation Board Officer; Rabbi Andrew Terkel, Jewish Federations of North America; and Missouri Representative Dr. George Hruza.
Join 500 men from across the St. Louis Jewish community for an evening of connection, camaraderie, and inspiration. The Men’s Event on June 4 includes great food and drinks, a chance to connect with friends, and features Coach Bruce Pearl, one of the most respected voices in college basketball and a passionate advocate for Jewish life.
Registration will close at the end of the day today (June 1), but walk-ins are welcome.
